Agape’s director Sumith Fernando was a pastor for many years. While he greatly enjoyed pastoring his flock, the Lord ‘called’ him to the ministry of Divine Healing. Divinely led to see the ‘mind-body connection’ in bringing about, maintaining as well as healing illnesses, he studied the subject of mental health and is currently a Psychotherapist as well as an ordained minister. He believes that doing psychotherapy (counseling) is only one part of his ‘calling,’ while the other part is in conducting Divine Healing Services. These services are titled ‘Divine Health and Divine Healing Services’ based on the theory that Divine healing is for those who are unwell while Divine Health is for those who want to maintain ‘walking in health.’ Divine health is therefore ‘preventative.’ Above services are comprised of teachings on preventing ill-health, effectively managing the ‘thorns in the flesh’ and ministering to the sick with the laying on of hands. The service is a mixture of periods of ‘Holy silence’ and healing music. As one participant put it, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
